Seats
The majority of 3 wheel double buggies start life as single pushchairs, but some can be converted to take an additional seat or carrycot with adapters (these are usually more common in tandem buggies). It can accommodate twins from at birth and will accept two car seats or a carrycot with a seat. However, the seats need to face forwards and there's no space for a shopping bag under which is why you'll need a backpack for that.

It can accommodate up to 30 seating configurations and includes a built-in ride-on for older children who prefer walking and a 'cinema seating' mode that raises the back seat to allow for better visibility.
The phil&teds dots are great single buggys that are easily modified to take two (or three!) in a variety of configurations. This is particularly useful for parents who have children in a car. The frame can be affixed to a wedgie that allows for the most optimal lying-flat position. Also, car seat adapters that work with a wide range of brands.
Suspension
The suspension of a double 3-wheel buggy will determine the ease with which you and your child/children can push it. A smooth ride is vital as babies can feel every bump in the road, especially if it's on rough terrain like grass or dirt roads. Some models also have front wheels that lock to assist in maneuvering and navigating obstacles such as curbs.
Some models have tyres with air filled that are ideal for all-terrain riding, however they are prone to punctures. Make sure you keep a spare set of tyres in the trunk. Some models have gel or foam tyres, designed to withstand bumps and can be less prone to punctures, however, you might find them to be a bit stiff and uncomfortable on your child's back should you decide to run.

Folding
A three-wheel double buggy could be folded in a neat manner for storage. There are options that fold flat, stand up (as as if they were a pushchair) and others that pop out to reveal a more umbrella-style folding, with an operated break. three wheel pushchair has, in general, the easier it is to maneuver through rough terrain. This is especially true if the wheels are larger than the typical size. You will have more stability and it will be less likely that you be forced to tip over or flip your child.
